The last time we met Adora (here), she was engaged; this time round, she is happily married and well-rested from a honeymoon to Europe. It seems that her style has undergone a subtle change as well; this look is slightly more casual, but still workplace friendly. Her chunky-heeled, slip-on Dr. Martens add an unexpected, preppy twist her tailored pants and loose-fit blouse. We catch up with her to find out what she’s been up to.

Q1. How do you try to personalise your outfit, or find some way of making it look different from the usual office crowd?

I’m not big on accessories, so I tend to focus on my clothes. I love structured pieces, creative tailoring, bright colours and fancy prints, and leather.

Q2. We think that little things can make or break an outfit. What do you personally look for when it comes to shoes and accessories?

Comfort is always my top priority, followed by style.

Q3. What are some of the items in your wardrobe or on your dresser that you can’t live without?

Of late, I have been wearing my PAIGE jeans so much because they are so comfortable and go well with almost everything!

Q4. Do you believe in routine or spontaneity, both at work and off work? How so?

I would say 80% routine and 20% spontaneity. It’s always good to have a routine but you need to break free from it every now and then, so that you can get inspiration elsewhere and not get stuck in a repeated cycle. For me, this applies both at work and in my personal life.

Q5. We often hear people say: don’t work hard, work smart. Have you found any way of working differently?

There are great resources and smart people around us at all times. If you can learn how to make sure of that and use what you have, the hardest task may be solved within minutes.

Q6. Could you tell us about what you’re working on right now, or a personal project that you would love to undertake?

I’m thinking of redesigning my apartment, so I have been trying to get inspiration from everywhere!

Q7. What do you do when you’re simply having a terrible day at work? Or how do you personally cope/deal with stress from work?

Music helps me deal with stress. Whenever I need to destress, I go to Starbucks and grab a coffee while listening to my playlist.

Q8. What’s the one thing you think you should be doing more of, or that you wish you had more time to be doing?

Exercising. I have been trying to exercise on a daily basis, but it always seems so hard to find time for that.

Q9. Who is your all-time favourite musician or band? Or the artist that you’re currently into at the moment

Ed Sheeran. His songs are all so amazing!

Q10. In light of the Dr. Martens #standforsomething campaign, what’s the one thing you stand for? What do you personally believe in, be it at work, or in life?

I believe that one should never stop learning. The more you learn, the more places you will go.

This is a Shentonista project for Dr. Martens Singapore.
