Mark is one half of a stylish couple; his wife Debra won our Shentonista of the Year 2014 title, but he isn’t one to lose out on the style stakes either. “I’m adventurous when it comes to colours and prints,” he says. “I have shorts of over six colours, much to my wife’s amazement.” And although his line of work doesn’t allow him to wear anything too outlandish, Mark still tries to make sure that some of his personality shows through his clothes. “I try to add more colours and textures into my shirts, coordinate colours with my shoes, ties, belt and sometimes socks.” He also stresses on the importance of a pair of good, comfortable shoes. “They go a long way.” Mark describes his job as a doctor as meaningful. “I’m fortunate that I get to meet different people from various walks of life,” he says. “I once got a recommendation for a tailor from one of my patients, and he’s the guy to thank for a large part of my wardrobe now!” Outside of work, Mark says he still has to “practice what (he) preaches”, and so he tries to incorporate frequent exercise into his week. This isn’t much of a problem for the sports enthusiast, who did archery in secondary school, was a rock climber in junior college, and who picked up tennis in university. When he isn’t in the gym, however, he makes sure he spends his time with his loved ones. “I spend time with my wife over the weekends. I try to make it a point to take her out on Date Nights once a week! As we both have hectic weekdays, we try to kick back during the weekends.” Mark finds it important to make time for both friends and family. “Make meaningful friendships, and invest your time in these valuable relationships instead of spreading out your time making many friends,” he says. “I count my secondary school friends as my best friends after knowing them for more than half my life!” Ultimately, Mark says, it’s not what we have in life, but who we have in our lives.
